You want a book that real and raw and relatable? Then this is the one for you. It is filled to the brim with things I think so many can relate to--from relationship struggles to personal, individual struggles. It's everyday, real life and the battles that come with it, but also the hope.

I love that Ms. Coryell doesn't shy away from the tough stuff. I love that she addresses things that we so often just try to sweep under the rug either because of shame or because what we're dealing with just isn't "talked" about.

And I love that this book is about a married couple, that it goes beyond the start of a relationship and the early romance and delves into the life after, the nitty gritty part of making a marriage work. And I love that she shows what it looks like to have a couple struggle, but then come together and begin to overcome in the battles they've been facing. Marriage is hard and it takes careful intentionality and choosing to work together to make it happen and that's clear in this book.

I have no doubt that this book has the ability to resonate with many and in so many ways as well as give them hope as they read it.

The Ways We Fall Apart The Parker Tales Book 1 edition by Christina Coryell Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

This was an emotional, powerful book about the different ways can fall apart.
The storyline and characters were well crafted and the emotional component touched my soul.
Tears flowed for a major part of the book.
Thank you for one of Christian Coryell's best books.
This book is highly recommended for those who love women's fiction.
Every marriage, no matter how successful it seems, runs into trouble from time to time. But will that trouble end the marriage or help it to grow. With their careers taking them in different directions, it takes a strain on any relationship.

As you read this wonderful story you will go through different emotions; happy, sad, scared...and many more. I feel you will love this story and this couple as much as I have.
I loved this novel. The idea of following Camdyn and Cole as their careers take off and they begin their family is really beautiful. I had no idea where this novel was headed, but I loved how two flawed people kept on hammering away at their marriage and their careers. Their lack of communication drove me a bit crazy at times, but I guess it was necessary for the plot to be able to thicken. I was also very inspired by how both spouses finally remember that they have to lean on God to get them through better or worse. It is amazing how an externally successful marriage can internally be living through so much turmoil because the couple forgets that it takes three to stay happily married. As one character points out, the feeling that you are a winner is fleeting in any profession; your sense of self-worth has to be based on the unconditional love you give and receive.
When I first saw the title of this book, it didn’t just release butterflies in my stomach; it released bats. Big, black, hairy kamikaze ones. I absolutely fell in love with Cole and Camdyn in the Camdyn series (the precursor to this series), so when I found out Christina Coryell was returning to these characters I was soooooooo excited. And then she revealed the title. And I thought, “Uh-oh. That does not sound good.”

You see, I don’t just read Christina Coryell’s stories; I live them. She has one of the most natural and engaging writing styles I’ve ever read, and I tend to become more than a little emotionally invested in the story. Was I really ready for all this story would entail?

Well, that was a moot question once I’d read the first word. Sucked me right in like a black hole. Except this was so much better than a black hole. Cole and Camdyn are still the endearing characters I fell in love with, but living life mostly apart AND in the spotlight takes a toll on any marriage, especially when the pressure to perform is piled on top—or the pressure of an anonymous critic who's becoming more like a stalker.

So yes, there was tension and unraveling—in fact, when a friend mentioned she’d had a difficult day with some tension at home, I almost said I had too, until I remembered that was the characters, not me. Ahem . . . But Christina Coryell knows exactly when to ease the valve on the tension, and she writes her characters with such authenticity and maturity (in spite of their weaknesses) that I wanted to walk through their struggles with them and support them. (Did I mention I tend to get a little involved in her stories?)

She also deals with sensitive topics . . . well, sensitively, but without diminishing impact on the reader. I came through this story feeling as though I’d grown with these characters and believing in them more than ever. And I can’t wait to keep growing with them—even if the next title releases a flurry of pterodactyls in my stomach!

I received a copy of this novel from the author. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.
Just ok, definitely not one of my favorite books.
This book... so complex and honest without being daytime drama-ish. I loved being back with Camdyn and Cole, felt their ache in this struggle of a journey, and found some beautiful nuggets of truth along the way. Well done, Ms. Coryell. Very well done.
Marriage is hard enough but add two high profile careers that require travel, then add a hidden addiction, and it makes for a powerful, emotional book. Coryell, as always, has done an excellent job of writing a hard to put down book.

One warning. Before reading this book you must read the Camdyn series to know the characters. Most of that series is lighter with many laughing out loud parts. I totally enjoyed it and have reread it several times. This book shows Coryell's ability to write a hard hitting, serious book about a difficult subject.
